Almost 170,000 people became ill with COVID-19 coronavirus infection, 77,000 recovered, 6,500 died of the disease


As of March 16, 169 387 laboratory-confirmed cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 were registered in the world, 6513 people died, 77 257 recovered. This is evidenced by the data compiled by specialists at Johns Hopkins University, published on the Gis and Data website.

At the moment, the most difficult situation from European countries is observed in Italy: 24,747 sick, 1,809 dead and 2,335 recovered. In Spain, 7844 people were infected, 292 died, 517 recovered; in Germany - 5813 became ill, 13 died, 46 recovered; in France - 5437 became ill, 127 died, 12 recovered.

At the end of December 2019, an outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19 (formerly 2019-nCoV) began in Wuhan (China), which causes a new type of pneumonia.
Three cases of coronavirus disease are officially registered in Ukraine - in the Chernivtsi and Zhytomyr regions. One of the sick has died.
Since March 12, a three-week quarantine has been introduced in Ukraine in connection with the coronavirus. All educational institutions must be closed until April 3, inclusive.
From midnight on March 17 for two weeks, Ukraine will completely stop regular passenger air transportation.
